Free rack planner
Rack planner for 10" and 19" racks
Lay out your 10" mini rack or 19" rack by rack unit, see which gear still needs a mount, and get every mount in one cart.
Two devices, one mount. On a 19" rack, most of our modular mounts can be combined, two devices side by side in one row. Search a device and tap + Combine to pick the second one.
Tap an open slot to choose where the next item goes. Drag an item to move it (on a phone, press and hold first). Tap it to remove it.
How it works
- Pick a rack. 10" mini racks (DeskPi, GeeekPi, Lab Rax and similar) or a standard 19" rack, at the height you have.
- Add your gear. Search a device to place it. Gear that already has rack ears, like UniFi and Netgear switches, Synology RackStations, UPS units and PDUs, is in the list too and goes in as rack-ready.
- See what's missing. Anything without ears shows as "needs a mount", with a mount you can buy for it.
- Share it. The link holds the whole layout, so a build can be posted, compared or finished later.
Plan a homelab, network or AV rack
Use the rack planner to try a layout before you buy: a 10" mini rack for a desk homelab, or a 19" rack for a network closet, AV system or server room. It knows our mounts for 600+ devices and 550+ rack-ready switches, gateways, NAS units, UPS units and PDUs from UniFi, TP-Link, Netgear, MikroTik, Synology, QNAP, APC and more. When the plan is done, every mount it needs goes into one cart.

Rack planner questions
What is a rack planner?
A free tool for laying out a server, network or AV rack unit by unit before you buy anything. Pick a 10" mini rack or a 19" rack, add your devices, and see what fits, how many U you need and which gear still needs a mount.
What is the difference between a 10" mini rack and a 19" rack?
A 10" mini rack (DeskPi RackMate, GeeekPi, Lab Rax and similar) is about half the width of a standard rack and suits a homelab on a desk or shelf. A 19" rack is the standard for network closets, AV systems and servers. Both use the same rack unit height, so 1U is 1.75 inches in either one.
What do 1U and 2U mean?
A rack unit (U) is the height of one slot in a rack, 1.75 inches. A 1U device takes one slot and a 2U device takes two. The planner counts them for you, so you can see how tall a rack your build needs.
Which devices need a rack mount?
Anything without rack ears: mini PCs like the Mac mini, Lenovo Tiny and Minisforum, desktop gateways and switches, NAS boxes, cable modems and streaming boxes. The planner marks these as needing a mount and shows the mount we make for each one. Gear with ears built in, like UniFi Pro switches, Synology RackStations, UPS units and PDUs, goes in as rack-ready.
Can two different devices share one 19" mount?
Yes. Many of our 19" modular mounts combine: each device gets its own half and the two halves join into one row. In the planner, search for a device and tap + Combine to pick the second one. If the two devices are different heights, the shorter side is built to match the taller one.
My device is not in the list. What now?
Add it as your own gear with its height so the plan stays complete, then use Request a mount. We design mounts for devices we do not list yet.
Can I save or share my rack plan?
Yes. The share link holds the whole layout. Copy it to post your build, send it to a friend, or come back to it later.
